Pros: bistro atmosphere, excellent variety of foods

Cons:

Nestled among several other restaurants in a strip mall across from Perimeter Mall lies a restaurant that conjures an atmosphere of a European bistro. (We haven’t yet tried the Peachtree Rd location.) This was the perfect restaurant to satiate us for a fine yet affordable brunch. The wait staff was incredibly polite and timely with our meals.

Cafe Intermezzo offers traditional breakfast (e.g., omelettes, crepes, etc.) and lunch (e.g., sandwiches, pasta, etc.) dishes with their own interesting twists. The Intermezzo Benedict was a great subtle twist on the traditional eggs benedict. Be sure to check the specials menu for some crepes do not appear on the regular menu. One in particular delicately yet ingeniously combined the saltiness variety with black forest ham and sweet fruity strawberry flavors.

As other people’s dishes arrived at their tables, it definitely set our salivating glands into overdrive. We will definitely have to visit this restaurant again.

Pros: very cozy atmosphere

Cons: limited hours at the Wildwood location

We have only visited one La Madeleine (the Wildwood location), and we have since found that there are actually quite a few locations in the Atlanta metro area, and even more across the south and up the east coast.

The atmosphere is very cozy, and the woody interior is reminiscent of a European bistro. The restaurant is a combination bakery, cafe, and bistro. Although you can collect various treats in a cafeteria-type line, a waiter will bring some of the more involved dishes to your table. We have tried various breakfast/brunch type dishes, including parfaits and homestyle American breakfasts, but our favorites are their brunch crepes, which usually offer an amazing combination of eggs, mushrooms, creamy garlic, and herbs.

The particular location that we have visited is only open until mid-afternoon, so we have not yet tried the dinner menu, but if it is at all like the brunch menu, you will be loving the food to your European heart’s content. On your way out, be sure to pick up some excellent baked goods.
